Carson City deputies make arrests for drugs, DUI and warrant alleging assault, gun violations
A 33-year-old man was arrested Friday for a warrant alleging multiple firearm violations including assault with a deadly weapon, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Richard Anthony Angel, listed of being from Mound House, was booked for the warrant that alleges assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of firearm into a vehicle, discharge from a vehicle within a prohibited area, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
The warrant was issued Feb. 10, 2023 out of Carson City Justice Court. He was brought to Carson City Jail from the Nevada Department of Corrections for the confirmed warrant. Bail: $40,000.
In other arrests:
— A 61-year-old Medford, Oregon man, David Wayne Switzer, was booked for a felony warrant alleging obtaining money under false pretenses. The warrant was issued Oct. 19, 2023 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 29-year-old Carson City man, Engel Gomez Mayorga, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of DUI, driving without a valid license and felony possession of a controlled substance.
According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to investigate a man threatening customers at a gas station. A description was given, with the man seen leaving in the scene in a vehicle and then returning again.
Officers arrived at around the time the suspect vehicle left going southbound. A deputy located a vehicle that matched the description at the intersection of Airport Road and Florentine. A felony vehicle stop was made. The suspect was identified, matching the description of customers and was detained.
The man had thick slurred speech as he talked, according to the report. Dispatch advised he did not have a valid license. A K9 did a free air sniff of the exterior of the vehicle and alerted positive. Found in the vehicle was cocaine in the center console, the report states. He was arrested.
The man submitted to performing standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He refused a preliminary breath test and agreed to a blood test. Bail: $3,829.
— A 33-year-old Sparks woman, Samantha Louise Goodrich, was arrested Sunday for suspicion of two counts possession of a controlled substance, three counts gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous prescription drug without a prescription and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the booking report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy was dispatched to the Northern Nevada Correctional Center to assist the prison with a K9 sniff of a vehicle.
Deputies arrived and made contact with two Nevada State Investigators who identified a vehicle suspected of having drugs and wanted a K9 sniff. The dog alerted positive during an exterior sniff of the vehicle.
CCSO was advised by the Nevada State Investor the single female occupant drove the vehicle to the prison. She was identified and advised that she was being detained. The keys were obtained for a consensual search of the vehicle.
Located inside was suspected methamphetamine, suspected cocaine, an unknown white pill, 16 blue pills of suspected Diazepam, an unknown green pill, an unknown yellow pill, a clear baggie with three orange pills of suspected alprazolam, a meth pipe, a straw with burnt residue, and a digital scale with white powder residue.
The woman was arrested. She was read her Miranda warning. She said she wanted to talk to an attorney before questioning. Total bail amount listed: $6,137.
