Carson City Sheriff: Man dies of apparent cardiac arrest while mountain biking
UPDATE: A man was found dead Sunday afternoon of an apparent cardiac arrest on a hiking trail near Kings Canyon on the Lincoln Bypass, according to the fire department and Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
Just before 2 p.m. dispatch was alerted to a man who wasn't breathing and appeared to be beyond help on the Lincoln Bypass trailhead. The body was discovered by a person on the trail near some boulders.
The incident staging area was at Longview Way.
The man apparently had been bicycling and is believed that he had a cardiac arrest and died at the scene, said Furlong.
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded to the trail where the man was located. A Care Flight air ambulance and the CCSO coroner also responded.
"Cardiac arrest is the initial assessment," said Furlong, noting there will be an autopsy.
