Carson City's annual Tree Lighting Silver and Snowflakes returns to downtown tonight
Tonight, Friday Dec. 2, the annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights returns to downtown Carson City with a festive tree lighting, holiday concert, hot cocoa, sleigh rides, and much more.
The fun begins at 4:30 p.m. with free Borges electric sleigh rides in front of the capitol, and photos with Carson City Sheriff’s Mounted Unit.
Carson Street between Robinson and 5th Street will close at 4 p.m.
The annual Fifth Grade holiday concert begins at 5:30 p.m., along with the Sheriff’s Car 54 and Lighted Fire Truck stationing themselves in front of City Hall.
Sleigh rides resume from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
From 6:30 to 8 p.m., stop by McFadden Plaza for a photo op with Santa and the Grinch on the patio of the Fox Brewpub along with the Joyful Noise Children’s Choir.
The Carson High School Choir will perform in front of City Hall, and the Sierra Lutheran High School Choir will be caroling throughout the downtown.
You can find free hot chocolate throughout the downtown including at A’Latte, Yaples’ Ballroom, the Fox Brewpub, and Kaleidoscope.

The temperature tonight will drop from the mid 30s to below freezing by 8 p.m., so please dress accordingly and stay warm!
