Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Trespasser leaves bags behind, jailed for heroin possession
A transient man was arrested Friday morning at 10:35 a.m. in the 1800 block of Camille Drive on misdemeanor trespassing and felony possession of heroin, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.
Jacob Martin Madden was taken into custody following a report of a possible residential burglary in progress. The reporting party (RP) called Carson City Dispatch and advised a male subject had just walked into his residence.
When law enforcement arrived, Sheriff's deputies located the suspect in the backyard jumping a fence. He was immediately detained, the arrest report said, telling deputies he was just trying to get his tools from his friend.
Contact was made with the residents, including the RP, who stated he observed Madden opening up the front door and walking into the home, carrying at least one black duffle bag.
Madden told the RP he was there to see his son, who returned home a few minutes later to find the suspect in the home. The son told law enforcement that Madden was hiding behind the door when he entered his home, and that he was acquainted with the suspect through other people. They were not friends, he told deputies in the report.
The son told Madden to "get the hell out of my home," and the suspect came at him aggressively, the report said. As a result, the son sprayed Madden with pepper spray from inside the residence, the report said, and the suspect ran out the back door.
Madden, however, left behind two black bags on the living room floor. After detaining the suspect, deputies searched the bags, locating a loaded syringe with a brown tar-like substance. Madden admitted that the bags belonged to him.
He was arrested and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $2,742.
