Carson City firefighters knock down fire at residence, suspect arrested for allegedly starting it

Carson City Fire Department responded Wednesday night to a structure fire in the 4100 block of Pheasant Drive where a male subject had barricaded himself inside when sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic battery call at the residence.

The fire was reported at around 9:10 p.m. shortly after Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies had already cleared people out of the residence when they responded to the domestic battery situation.

The male suspect, who remained inside and had briefly barricaded himself, was taken into custody at the scene and is allegedly the one who started the fire, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. No injuries were reported.

Carson City Fire Department responded to the residence after smoke and flames were seen coming from inside.

The fire was extinguished at 9:23 p.m., according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief on scene.

The incident is under investigation.
