Carson City community Thanksgiving dinner happening Thursday at the Carson Nugget
Carson Nugget will celebrate its 64th annual Carson City Community Thanksgiving Feast from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. All are welcome to join the free holiday dinner in the Grand Ballroom.
The traditional Thanksgiving dinner will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, cranberry sauce and pie. The Carson Nugget is located at 507 N Carson St., in Carson City.
“The event is an annual tradition that feeds the community and feed many residents of Carson City including seniors and veterans,” said Dean DiLullo, owner of the Carson Nugget who has been a part of the Thanksgiving Feast since taking ownership of the casino.
The annual community event is made possible by Friends in Service Helping, also known as FISH, in collaboration with the Carson Nugget, A Catered Affaire Busboy Mobile Cuisine and Nevada Nosh.
FISH is a local Carson City organization that provides a “hand up, not a hand out.” Each year FISH provides 250,000 meals to community members.
“Thanks to the help of the community and the sponsors of the Community Thanksgiving Feast we are able to make this event happen every year at the Carson Nugget” said Jim Peckham, the Executive Director of FISH.

FISH notes that the recent High Five Turkey Drive reached its 1,000 turkey donation goal, which will help get FISH through the Thanksgiving feast at the Carson Nugget as well as providing Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets for those in need.
FISH is still in need of sides, often considered the best part of a Thanksgiving meal: Potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy and fruit.
