Holiday craft fair, interactive play, chili bingo, standup comedy and more: Carson City area ready for action-packed weekend
Heading into the weekend before Thanksgiving, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the 25th annual Carson High School Holiday Craft Fair, a “War of the Worlds” play at the Brewery Arts Center, a Chili Bingo Night fundraiser to benefit the Carson Middle School Band, laughs at the Carson Nugget and much more.

Here's the rundown of activities over the next three days:
Friday, November 22
— Carson City family keeps Tiffani and Bailee's annual Sealed Toy Drive alive in memory (all day). The Toy Drive is now underway, beginning Nov. 1, 2019 and comes to an end on Dec. 2, 2019. Please help us, help these kids! For more information or questions, contact Brad Barber at 775-721-5941.
— Carson City area youth groups, organizations sought for 2019 Polar Express role participation (all day). The 2019 Polar Express is inviting a limited number of Carson City area youth groups and organizations in the community to be a part of The Polar Express experience by portraying elves at the North Pole each year. For every night the group provides the required amount of elves, chaperones and works all three trains we will donate $100 to the groups for every night they perform.
— Muscle Powered morning walk at Linear Park. 9 a.m. Meet in the parking area at the corner of New Ridge Drive and Northridge Drive. Come join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City! Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building.
— Coin Press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 600 N. Carson St. Every Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. we hold historic Coin Press No. 1 demonstrations in the 150 year-old Carson City Mint building. If they wish, visitors may purchase a planchet (coin blank) in the Museum Store and bring it to the Coin Press No. 1 gallery to have it minted just for them.
— Meet the Andersen Ranch Estates Subdivision developer this Friday. 2 p.m. on the second floor of the Carson City Library. Attention neighbors of the Andersen Family Trust property between Mountain and Ormsby, formerly the Andersen Ranch, a meeting with the new developer, Christy Corp, is being held this week on Friday afternoon.
— Chili Bingo Night to benefit Carson Middle School Band. 5 p.m. at the CMS gym, 1140 W. King St. Delicious, zesty chili served with Bingo games and a raffle with fantastic prizes will guarantee a great family Friday night at Carson Middle School in Carson City.
— Carson High Holiday Craft Fair to celebrate 25th year. 5 to 8 p.m. at Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Rd. Join us for another unique shopping experience while assisting Carson High School staff and students. The 25th annual Carson High Holiday Craft Fair will be held Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23.
— Carson High School Canned Food Drive. 5 to 8 p.m. at Carson High School, 1111 N. Saliman Rd. The Carson High Holiday Craft Fair will be held at the Carson High School Friday November 22nd from 5 to 8 p.m. and Admission on Friday is $2.00 and Saturday is $1.50 or $1 with a canned food item. All canned food items will be donated to Advocates to End Domestic Violence.
— Open Mic Night at A to Zen Gift Shop. 6 to 9 p.m. at 1803 N. Carson Street. Open Mic Night is held at A to Zen Gift Shop on the Zen Den Stage. All talents, creative projects welcome. Come practice being on stage. There will be music, comedy, poetry, magic, and more. All ages and skill levels welcome.
— 'War of the Worlds' at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center . 6:30 p.m. in the Brewery Art Center’s Black Box Theatre, 449 W. King St. Orson Welles directed and narrated a radio drama adaptation of H.G. Wells’s novel War of the Worlds. Audiences tuned-in to hear the stories of Martians crash-landing on earth, not knowing it was only a play, and prompted news stories of widespread panic over a nonexistent alien invasion.
— Live music at Glen Eagles Restaurant. 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 3700 N. Carson St. Enjoy live music that is sure to make you get up and dance every Wednesday through Saturday starting at 6:30 to 9 p.m.
— Matilda, The Musical. 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street. The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is bringing the internationally acclaimed, high-energy, magical “Matilda the Musical” to Nevada for the very first time!
— Carson Comedy Club presents standup stylings of Derek Richards this weekend. 8 p.m. at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson St. Comedian Derek Richards will be performing at The Carson Comedy Club in Carson City at the Carson Nugget this Friday and Saturday.
— Musicole Friday at Living the Good Life. 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at 1480 N. Carson St. Come get your boogie on and dance Friday night at Living the Good Life Nightclub Bar and Bistro!
Saturday, November 23
— Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway hosted by Postal Annex in Carson City (all day). Shop local with us at Postal Annex and enter to win a Thanksgiving Dinner for 10 with all the trimmings! — Guided tours of the Nevada State Capitol. Two separate tours will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every Saturday in Carson City. Tours typically take an hour and include both the exterior of the building, nearby memorials as well as the interior of the building. Tours are available for up to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis. The building includes numerous historic artifacts that range from portraits of past Nevada governors to sculptures to historical items showcased during Nevada’s Sesquicentennial celebration.
— Fundraiser Saturday in Carson City for young girl battling brain tumor. 12 to 5 p.m. at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar, 301 N. Carson St. A second fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar, 301 North Carson Street in Carson City. This fundraiser is from noon to 5 p.m. For this fundraising event, money sold through Jell-O shots will be donated directly to the family.
— Turkey Bingo. 12 to 9 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden. The Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley will be hosting its annual kid friendly Turkey Bingo on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the C.V.I.C. Hall in Minden. There will be three sessions, the first starts at 12:00 pm, the second at 3:00 pm and the third at 6:00 pm.
— Saturday Beginning Wheel Throwing at Ogres-Holm Pottery. 1 to 4 p.m. at 1215 S. Carson Street.. The Ogres of Ogres-Holm introduce you to clay in this 6-week open start class, including open studio time, is designed to get you started. It’s a great way to relax on a Saturday afternoon. $175 for 6 weekly sessions or $45 drop ins.
— Lego Club at the Carson City Library. 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 900 N. Roop Street. Build self-led creations through hands-on learning with LEGO Education materials. Participants 9 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver of at least 13 years of age at all times.
— Matilda, The Musical. 2 to 9:30 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street. The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is bringing the internationally acclaimed, high-energy, magical “Matilda the Musical” to Nevada for the very first time!
— Spoken history at the Genoa Town Hall. 5 p.m. 2287 Main St. in Genoa. This Chautauqua event features Genoa residents of the past. Chautauquans include Steve Hale as Snowshoe Thompson, the legendary “Mailman of the Sierra” and Kim Harris as Lillian Virgin, the originator of the Genoa Candy Dance and DebiLynn Smith as Anna Harris, early Genoa pioneer business owner.
— 'War of the Worlds' at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center. 6:30 p.m. in the Brewery Art Center’s Black Box Theatre, 449 W. — Carson Comedy Club presents standup stylings of Derek Richards this weekend. 8 p.m. at the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson St. Comedian Derek Richards will be performing at The Carson Comedy Club in Carson City at the Carson Nugget this Friday and Saturday.
— Live Stand-Up Comedy in the Valley Ballroom. 8 p.m. at the Carson Valley Valley Inn, 1627 Hwy 295 in Minden. Loads of laughs and patriotism on Saturday, November 23 when Live Stand-Up Comedy returns to our Valley Ballroom!
— Rock and Roll with Pawnshop at Living the Good Life. 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at 1480 N. Carson St. A night of music, drinks and food with Northern Nevada's hottest garage band! Come on out and enjoy!
Sunday, November 24
— Muscle Powered Sunday Bicycle Ride. 9 a.m. Meet at Fremont Elementary School, 1511 Firebox Rd, Carson City, NV 89701, in the south parking lot, next to the Linear Ditch Trail. Come join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City!
— Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter Game Watch. 10 a.m. at Jimmy G’s, 301 N. Carson St. Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter will host a game watch for Oakland Raiders fans at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 at Jimmy G's, 301 N. Carson St. in Carson City. The Raiders will take on the New York Jets in New York.
— Genoa Craft and Holiday Festival. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Genoa Town Hall, 2287 Main St. The holidays are just around the corner, jump right in and stop by to the Genoa Town Hall for our craft and holiday festival!
— Matilda, The Musical. 2 to 4 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William Street. The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is bringing the internationally acclaimed, high-energy, magical “Matilda the Musical” to Nevada for the very first time!
