Carson City deputies in standoff with suicidal man at apartment
UPDATE 1:04AM: A standoff with Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies at an Etta Place residence in which a man threatened to "go out in a blaze of glory" and shoot officers ended safely just before 12:30 a.m., said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
Shane Anderson, 31, was arrested for suspicion of assault on a protected person with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm in a home, and intimidation of public officers with force, all felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of drawing a deadly weapon in a threatening manner.
CCSO breached the residence and used a robot to assist in the search for the man inside who was found hiding with a shotgun. The man was located inside the home unhurt and was taken into custody, said Furlong. No officers were injured in the incident.
While robotics technology played a role in making entry to the home and was able to search around 60 percent of it, ultimately officers had to execute the remaining search where they found the man and the shotgun he brandished at them nearby, said Furlong.
What added to the confusion was third party information via phone that the man had shot himself, which wasn’t the case, said Furlong. The man, however, did shoot the gun inside the home.
