Carson City emergency crews respond to crash at South Carson Street and Old Clear Creek

The long weekend continues. Memorial Day is for remembering our fallen heroes, those who have or are serving in our Armed Forces. We also honor those loved ones left behind. With several services around the area, you’ll easily find a way to pay your respects. Pick up an American flag at any of the shops or restaurants at the Carson Mall. The winter of 2016-17 continues to impact some Sierra bound travelers as highway plow crews battle several feet of deep snow over mountain passes. This is first time in a decade that State Route 108 over Sonora Pass wan unable to open in time for the Memorial Day weekend.

It is that time of year again, time for the Carson High School Class of 2017 to graduate and move on toward other exciting endeavors. Many graduates will continue their education by heading up to the next level, going off to college, while some will attend a trade school, and yet others will simply begin employment in a field of their choice.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Saturday afternoon to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the area of Highway 50 and Fairview.

My friend Paul recently asked me to tell him about Milky Spore. I knew nothing about it, so decided to look it up.

Milky spore is a bacterial disease used as an alternative to chemical insecticides to reduce Japanese beetle populations. This microbial or biological insecticide was one of the first registered in the United States in 1948.

Though we always expect it, we can never predict when emergency situations will happen — though it often seems to happen early in the evenings.

Northern Nevadans in and around the Nevada state capital were given a proper send off to the big three-day holiday weekend Friday afternoon by Carson City resident E.D. Crouser, well known in the community for waving her uplifting messages to motorists at busy intersections around town.
