Carson City health agency to halt COVID-19 testing, vaccinations to remain Quad County focus

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Feb. 4-10.

Road closures expected at the following locations due to road/utility work:

Carson City Firefighter-Paramedics and Sheriff's deputies are on scene of a single-vehicle rollover accident on Deer Run Road near U.S. Highway 50 East in Carson City.

One 12 year-old victim has minor injuries, believed to be limited to lacerations. Two other occupants, both teenagers, appear unhurt at this time.

Traffic on Deer Run Road has been shut down while emergency crews work the accident.

Carson City artist Cynthia Brenneman’s fascination with art started at a young age and has never wavered, even as she served her country in the U.S. Navy.

I am leery when I see "dwarf" mugos (Pinus mugo) sold in stores. The idea of a pine that stays tiny and round is tempting for the interesting shape and texture it brings to a landscape. However, "dwarf" can be misleading.

A Carson City man will have to spend six months in Douglas County Jail as a condition of a suspended five-year prison term. William B. Soukup, 20, appeared in Douglas County District Court for sentencing on a felony burglary.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the driver who died in a crash on U.S. 50 near Fortune Drive in Dayton early Friday morning.

NHP says 28-year-old Juan Jesus Orozco of South Lake Tahoe killed when he lost control of his red 2000 Audi S4 sedan while speeding on U.S. Highway 50 and crashed into a light pole.

A 34 year-old Reno woman was among four people arrested Friday by Carson City Sheriff's deputies on felony drug offenses.
