Carson City woman arrested after 'taking down' her husband following a dispute over an ex-girlfriend

A 52-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday night for domestic battery first after allegedly “taking down” her husband following an argument about an ex-partner.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to a residence on report of a domestic battery, and dispatch advised the man had possibly been cut with a knife by the woman.

On arrival, deputies could hear yelling from within the house, and they could see several broken items scattered about on the floor.

Deputies knocked on the door, but the yelling continued. They heard a woman yell from inside the residence “you are holding me down!”

Deputies advised dispatch they would be breaching the door. Because the door had a glass plate in the center, they gave the door two “soft kicks” to minimize damage.

The deputies then entered the residence with their weapons drawn. In the kitchen, they found the husband holding down the wife. Deputies told the man to show them his hands, which he complied. He was placed him in handcuffs and detained.

The man had “blood all over his face and hands,” but when asked if he needed medical attention, he could not give deputies a straight answer. The fire department was called to respond.

The man agreed to speak with deputies, and said he and his wife had been drinking wine when the woman asked him about an ex-girlfriend. He said at that point the woman became very angry and started punching him in the side of the head.

He then wrapped his arms around her in an attempt to stop her hitting him. At some point during the fight, the oven door was shattered. There were also knives and broken glass all over the floor, deputies said.

During the wrestling, the man said, he cut the back of his hand and had red markup his arms. He advised he had shoulder and side pain as well, however, there were no visible marks to those areas. His hair was messy and blood covered his face; however, he did not have any cuts to his face that the deputies could see.

Deputies then spoke with the woman who told them the following: she and her husband started arguing over the woman letting a bird out of its cage. She said the man then got mad and began throwing items off the counter. The woman then started to wrestle with him, and he was holding her down when deputies arrived.

Deputies asked if during the argument they spoke about an ex-girlfriend. The woman said “yes” and the man told her “yeah, I f***** her,” at which point she “took him down.”

Deputies asked her if she hit him. She made swinging motions with her arm and said again, “I took him down.”

Deputies located a video camera in the living room. Both parties had access to the camera. Deputies asked the woman if they could review the video. She stated she would like to speak to an attorney prior to deputies viewing the video.

Deputies spoke with the man who advised he had a different video on his phone.

Though the woman had bruising on her left arm and some small marks on both arms, deputies determined she was the primary aggressor as she admitted to starting the fight.

She was taken into custody.

— A 47-year-old transient man and a 36-year-old transient woman were arrested for burglary, using credit cards without the consent of the owner, and obtaining money under false pretenses.

According to the report, Sean Patrick Conley and Amy Lynn Rodriguez were arrested after Special Enforcement Team deputies assisted with an investigation on a burglary case Carson City detectives were working on.

Deputies requested the assistance of the Tri-Net narcotics task force to assist in locating two identified suspects and their vehicle, according to the report.

Deputies located the vehicle turning into a McDonalds restaurant drive thru. Deputies pulled into the drive thru to block their escape while the couple was receiving their food, and conducted a high risk car stop. The two were both arrested.

The two were suspects in a vehicle burglary that occurred at the hospital. A victim’s vehicle had been burglarized and their credit cards stolen. The credit cards were then used at a local department store in two transactions on Nov. 10, one for $345.51 and the second for $186.55.

The department store gave deputies the photos of the suspects who used the credit cards, who were later identified as Conley and Rodriguez.

A department store employee identified the man as Sean Conley, a convicted sex offender on lifetime supervision with Nevada Parole and Probation, but that the woman was not Conley’s wife.

Deputies found Conley’s wife, who identified him in the photos and told deputies he had left her home on Oct. 20 and hadn’t returned since. She said she had received a facebook message from a woman who stated she was with Conley and hadn’t known he was married.

The wife forwarded the facebook messages to deputies, who were then able to identify the woman in the pictures from the department store as Amy Rodriguez, who was also on probation for vehicle burglary.

Deputies located the couple and found in the back of the vehicle items purchased from the department store with the stolen credit card.

Bail for Conley: $32,500
No bail for Rodriguez.
