Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man enters home through doggy door, booked for burglary

A 33 year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday evening at 5:59 p.m. in the 700 block of Hillcrest Road for felony burglary, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

Timothy Lee, Jr., a landscaper, was taken into custody Wednesday after law enforcement had been called to the area on report of a domestic dispute.

According to the reporting party (RP), she and Lee had gotten into a heated argument. He then entered her home without permission through a doggy door, before exiting and running eastbound on Hillcrest just head of a responding Sheriff's deputy.

The officer, though, spotted the suspect and intercepted him. The deputy instructed Lee to sit on the curb, but he began walking away, shouting he had done nothing wrong, the arrest report said.

Lee ignored multiple commands from the deputy to sit and go to the ground, the report said, until the latter had unholstered his taser and issued a final warning.

At that point, Lee complied, however he ignored orders to place his hands on the back of his head, deciding instead to roll over, the report said. The suspect was quickly detained in handcuffs, though.

Law enforcement interviewed the victim RP, who reported Lee had not lived at the residence for three years, but had showed up the day before wanting to visit his child.

He was asked to leave the night before, and then returned to the residence early Wednesday unannounced and uninvited. Lee, the RP said in the report, was heard trying to scramble over the side fence into the back yard, where a doggie door was located.

The RP said he had previously been arrested for making entry into the home without permission through the doggy door.

He eventually left Wednesday morning. But when the RP returned home around 6 p.m. Wednesday, she found Lee sitting on her front porch, clutching arms full of food from her pantry and refrigerator, the report said.

Lee told the RP that he had entered the residence through the doggie door. This was without permission, the RP stated.

An argument between them ensued, the report said, and Lee then followed the RP into the house uninvited, cursing and screaming.

When the RP picked up the telephone to dial 9-1-1, Lee reportedly fled the residence, the report said.

Lee told law enforcement that he may have misunderstood the RP about not having permission to enter the home. He also claimed he only took a granola bar because he was hungry.

Lee was transported to the Carson City Jail for booking without further incident. Bail: $25,000.

Paul Delbert Simpson was taken into custoday Friday evening after Sheriff's deputies responded to a call about domestic battery.

The RP/victim stated her ex-boyfriend had pushed his way into her house and would not let her leave.

When law enforcement arrived, the RP was standing outside of the residence with her children and nephew. She told officers that the suspect was waiting outside of her door when she went to take out the trash and pushed his way inside, the arrest report said.

Simpson then reportedly yelled at the RP and pushed her backwards. He refused to leave despite repeated requests by the victim.

When she attempted to leave with the children, the report said, Simpson did not allow it. However, the victim and children were able to finally get out of the house and she call 9-1-1.

According to the victim, Simpson was not supposed to have contact with her because of previous battery. He was unwelcome in the house, she said.

The victim's nephew told deputies he observed Simpson pushing the victim in the kitchen. When they all tried to leave the residence, Simpson then grabbed him by his arm and pulled him back into the room, the report said.

Deputies then made contact with Simpson, who was still sitting inside the living room of the residence. He was observed to appear very intoxicated with red, watery eyes and slurred speech, the report said.

Simpson was reluctant to speak with law enforcement, stating the victim was going to make up lies to send him to prison. He told deputies that if he gets one more domestic battery conviction, he is going to prison.

Simpson told law enforcement that the victim had invited him into the residence, stating she had called him and spoke with him over the telephone.

He agreed to let deputies review the call log on his phone and text messages. However, nothing showed to corroborate his story.

Text messages from the victim showed she did not respond when Simpson had asked several times if he could come over. One text message from the victim stated she wasn't going to message anymore. There was no evidence of any invitation to the residence, the report said.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch revealed a second domestic battery conviction in October 2016 out of Carson City.

Simpson was subsequently handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $35,000.

— A 23 year-old Carson City man was arrested late Friday night at 11:45 p.m. in the 4500 block of N. Carson Street for misdemeanor first offense driving under the influence (DUI), excessive speed and resisting arrest, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle observed traveling at a high rate of speed.

Contact was made with the driver, who was observed to have red, watery eyes and smelled strongly of alcohol.

The suspect driver admitted to having consumed four beers earlier in the day and was on his way to work, the report said. He also admitted to have been driving at least 20 miles per hour (mph) over the posted speed limit.

The suspect consented to standard field sobriety tests (SFSTs), none of which were performed satisfactorily, as well as a preliminary breath test (PBT), the results of which were shown to be above the legal limit of 0.08 percent breath-alcohol content (BAC).

But before the officer could place the suspect under arrest, he took off running. Two other deputies who had arrived for the traffic stop began a foot pursuit with the suspect, who was eventually caught about a half-mile later and detained in handcuffs.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Carson City Jail, where another PBT was administered, showing BAC of .145 percent. Bail: $1,569.

— A man and woman were arrested late Friday night at 11:22 p.m. in the 400 block of Fairview Drive, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, one for first-offense DUI and another for an outstanding bench warrant.

According to the arrest report, Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the area on report of possible domestic violence in a vehicle.

A traffic stop was made on the suspect vehicle in which there were two occupants: a 52 year-old female driver and a 48 year-old male passenger, both from Carson City.

Each was identified and a records check run through Carson City Dispatch, which confirmed an active arrest warrant for the male passenger, who was subsequently placed in handcuffs and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $238.

The woman, meanwhile, displayed red, watery eyes and smelled of alcohol. She admitted to having been drinking, the report said.

The woman consented to SFSTs, which showed signs of impairment. She was unable to keep her balance during the walk and turn test, the report said.

She further consented to a PBT, the results of which yielded BAC of .206 percent.

The female suspect was then handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail for booking. Bail: $1,209.
