Carson City weekend arrests: 3 booked for felony mayhem after fight outside restaurant
Three men were arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony mayhem and misdemeanor destruction of property, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.
Charles Lawrence Orzalli, 30, Troy Joe Strand II, 32 and Travis Joe Strand, 28, were taken into custody at 5:27 p.m. following an investigation into a fight that started at a bar and continued outside a restaurant.
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report, at 4:52 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of East Telegraph in reference to a battery outside of a bar and a restaurant. Deputies arrived and saw a man bleeding from the face and his shirt was covered in blood. The man identified himself. He had a swollen face, and 1-inch laceration on his left eyebrow, and, it was later learned, lost a tooth from the fight. He was treated on scene by paramedics. He was hesitant to talk about what happened, the report states.
Deputies met with a witness who was able to explain where the fight took place, outside a restaurant and that multiple suspects left the bar and started a fight, in which several people then jumped in and began fighting, the report states.
A deputy spoke with the owner of the restaurant who wanted to press charges and make a citizens arrest for property damages on the restaurant property. During the fight, a man was seen doing a head bash on the restaurant window, the report states. Others witnessed the fight and were able to show deputies recordings of the fight via cell phone.
A deputy located three suspects, Troy Strand II, Travis Strand and Charles Orzalli. The suspects matched the description of the men fighting in the video footage and were arrested. Bail: $30,000 each.
In other arrests:
— A 57-year-old Texas man was arrested Saturday for suspicion of DUI and driving without taillights. According to the booking report, a deputy made a traffic stop at 2:32 a.m. after observing the vehicle in front of him did not have its taillights illuminated.
The officer made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, who had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person, red watery eyes and slurred speech. The man agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .297 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
The man would not consent to an evidentiary blood test. An on-call judge was contacted, who granted a search warrant for an evidentiary sample of the man's blood to determine his level of impairment. Bail: $1,209.
— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and parole and probation violation. Bail: No bail hold in lieu of a hearing for probation violation.
— A 47-year-old Reno man was arrested Saturday for a misdemeanor bench warrant issued Oct. 12, 2022 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 46-year-old Fallon woman was arrested Sunday, 2:04 a.m. for suspicion of DUI. According to the booking report, a deputy made a traffic stop at 1:43 a.m. after observing a pickup stopping 3 feet past the stop light at a red light at North Stewart Street and then later going Eastbound on William Street nearly striking the sidewalk twice. The deputy observed the vehicle swerved inside the travel two-lane several times.
The deputy made contact with the driver and could smell an odor of alcohol coming from her breath. the woman's stated she had been drinking and had a few drinks a few hours prior. She agreed to a field sobriety test and showed signs of impairment on tests. She provided a preliminary breath test of .295 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
The woman refused consent for voluntary evidence. A Carson City judge was contacted and the CCSO deputy was granted a search warrant for a blood sample from the woman. Bail: $1,137.
— A 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Sunday morning for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, eluding and driving the wrong way.
According to the booking report, a deputy observed a truck traveling the wrong way westbound on eastbound College Parkway, where it corrected its direction over a concrete curb dividing traffic.
The officer followed the vehicle to initiate a traffic stop for its wrong way driving pattern. However the driver failed to yield to the traffic stop signaling by the deputy who activated his lights and siren. The vehicle continued westbound on College Parkway at a speed of 33 mph in a marked 40 mph zone. The vehicle continued, passing Northgate Lane at approximately 20 mph. The vehicle turned northbound on Imperial Way, continuing westbound onto Silver Oak Drive/Alexa Way.
The vehicle entered the 20 College Parkway parking lot, finally stopping over a marked parking space. The vehicle parked at an angle extending outside the parked parking lines. The driver attempted to exit the vehicle. The deputy gave the man verbal commands to stop. The man complied and was placed under arrest.
The deputy report notes that that there was a previous call where a witness reported a wrong-way driver, a single occupant in a black truck, traveling southbound in the north bound lanes on Fairview Drive near the National Guard.
The deputy spoke with the man, who had thick slurred speech and an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The man stated "I'm sorry, it's a DUI," referring to himself being intoxicated while driving. During the field interview he admitted to consuming alcohol stating he had eight shots or servings of Fireball whiskey and made multiple statement concerning his intoxicated state by saying "I earned my DUI," and "I'm drunk."
He was read his Miranda warning and agreed to speak. He was asked how much he had to drink. The man stated "I've had enough alcohol," the report states. He consented to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment.
At jail he agreed to provide a blood sample. Bail: $1,861.
— A 43-year-old woman was arrested Sunday, 9:41 p.m. for suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing/delaying a peace officer and a failure to appear warrant. Bail: $2,137.
