Suicide: A Survivor’s Story on the Next My Soul University Radio Hour
Emma White is a vibrant young woman, an advocate and champion for people battling mental health issues. But that hasn’t always been the case. As a teenager Emma suffered from suicidal depression and wanted to kill herself. Fortunately, she didn’t. She has since battled her way out of that dark place and now helps others do the same.
Emma will share her story this week’s My Soul University Radio hour. Hosted by Kitty McKay and moderated by Ken Farley, the show airs Sunday, October 24th, at 5:00 P.M. on 95.1 FM and streaming at KNVC.org.
“We read that suicide rates are soaring for our kids, and the ages are getting younger and younger.” McKay said. “Hearing now twenty-five-year-old Emma tell her high school suicide survival story connects us to the heart behind these headlines in an immediate and powerful way.”
Emma founded the online resource “Life is Worth It” to prevent teen suicide. The organization provides resources and workshops for young people in Northern Nevada and strives to reach them before suicide crosses their mind. She shares her story in hopes that it will encourage others that life is worth the heartbreaks, uncertainties and struggles, and that fighting for your life amidst pain won’t be easy, but it’s will be worth it.
McKay adds “She is an inspiration because of how she's transformed her struggles into a bridge for saving the lives of others, as well as how her earned wisdom helps us become a force of healing in our community”
