Carson City man jailed for alcohol violation after allegedly making threats with BB gun

A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for felony parole and probation violation after allegedly waving a BB gun around and threatening people near a casino in the 1900 block of North Carson Street, a sheriff's deputy said.

Umberto Garcia was arrested at 11:39 p.m. in the 1900 block of F Street. According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the area after being advised by dispatch of what the reporting parties had alleged, and observed the man walking eastbound on Winnie Lane.

A deputy pulled up on the man, who placed his hands straight up in the air. When the deputy approached the man he observed a black handle sticking out from his waistband of his pants and a knife in his right front pocket.

The deputy removed the weapon from his waistband and it looked like a semi-automatic pistol but on closer inspection was a BB gun. While speaking with the man deputies could smell and odor of alcohol on his breath. He provided a preliminary breath test of .188. Dispatch advised he was on Parole and Probation with a “no drinking” clause. He was arrested and held without bail in lieu of a hearing.

In other arrests:
— A 57-year-old Carson City woman, Aileen Aiello, was arrested Monday, 2:03 a.m. in the area of North Fall and East Adams streets for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and jaywalking.

According to the arrest report, a deputy initiated a pedestrian stop in the area after finding a woman walking northbound in the middle of the road.

The deputy asked the woman why she was walking in the middle of the street in the middle of the night. The woman replied it was a regular practice for her, the arrest report states. While speaking with the woman a small plastic baggy fell out of the front left pocket of her sweatshirt. Inside was a substance identified as methamphetamine.

She was arrested and taken to jail. During intake the woman informed deputies there was a meth pipe in her bra. Bail: $3,709.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 5:16 a.m. in the 3600 block of Goni Road for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant, obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the arrest report, the man provided an officer a name that wasn’t his.

The man told the officer his real name after a few more times being asked after dispatch couldn’t confirm the name. He said he didn’t want to give his real name because he had a warrant for his arrest, which it was determined he had. Bail: $2,529.

— A 27-year-old South Lake Tahoe, Calif., man was arrested Sunday, 10:21 a.m. for a misdemeanor failure to appear traffic court warrant issued June 19, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $215.

— An 18-year-old transient was arrested Sunday, 6:03 p.m. in the 2100 block of East Long Street for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued Aug. 7, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $250.

— A 39-year-old Carson City an was arrested Sunday, 8:07 a.m. in the 1300 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor obstructing an officer. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a casino regarding a suspicious subject loitering in the cashier cage area.

Deputies located the man. He was asked for identification. The man said he did not have any identification because his wallet was either stolen or lost. He provided the name of “Alex Jones” along with a date of birth and social security number. A records check with the name provided to the sheriff’s office and social security number he had given could not be located. The man again told deputies his name was “Alex Jones.”

Deputies ran the man’s social security number and learned his identity was Dallas Jones. He was asked why he gave the wrong name. The man replied he was an ex-felon for obstructing an officer. Dispatch advised the man was not an ex-felon and was not required to register. He was arrested for obstructing an officer. Bail: $412.

— Two were arrested Sunday, 1:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor related charges. The first arrested was a 42-year-old man for misdemeanor violation of a temporary protection order. Bail: $3,000. A 38-year-old woman was arrested for suspicion of obstructing an officer, also a misdemeanor. Bail: $412.

— A 28-year-old woman was arrested Sunday, 1:46 a.m. in the area of North Roop and Winnie streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and misdemeanor making an improper turn, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle make an improper turn in the area of North Roop and Stewart streets.

The deputy made a traffic stop and could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her person. She agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She took preliminary breath test that showed her to be over the legal limit and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,249.

— A 56-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 3:15 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of disorderly conduct.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to an apartment for a report of a man who was slamming his apartment door multiple times and calling neighbors racial slurs. Two witnesses met with officers and agreed to fill out citizens arrest forms regarding the incident. Deputies made contact with the man who was uncooperative, slamming the front door closed on deputies.

He opened the door shortly thereafter, was escorted out of the apartment and placed under arrest. Bail: $242.

Meanwhile, earlier that morning, at 2:11 a.m. the man’s wife was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Deputies observed scratches to the left side of the man’s face and chin and cheek areas. He told deputies he and his wife were arguing and that the woman reached inside his mouth with her fingers and pulled in a “fish hook” like fashion. The man declined medical attention. Bail: $3,137.

— A 23-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday, 7:21 p.m. in the area of Airport Road and Butti Way for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Sept. 20, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

— A 19-year-old Fernley woman was arrested Saturday, 8:29 a.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway for two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants, one from Lyon County and the other from Storey County. Bail: $920.

— A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 12:50 a.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Sept. 6, 2018 out of Carson City Drug Court. The man was held without bail in lieu of a hearing.
