Two arrested for drugs after deputies spot man driving with running generator on top of car at 3 a.m., but no headlights

A 32-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were arrested in the area of 5th and Saliman for felony possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and more after deputies spotted a man driving a vehicle without headlights on with a generator running on top of it.

According to the arrest report, deputies were patrolling in the area of 5th and Saliman just before 3 a.m. early Tuesday morning when they spotted a man walking around a vehicle which had a generator strapped to the roof, and the generator was running.

Dispatch advised that the registration for the vehicle was suspended. Deputies observed the vehicle leaving the parking lot with the headlights turned off, and deputies performed a traffic stop.

The driver, identified as Anthony Gelsone, was on DAS and subject to search and seizure, according tot he report. Deputies asked Anthony to step out of the vehicle, as did his passenger, identified as Lauren Gelsone.

Inside the vehicle deputies located several hypodermic needle caps, and Anthony stated that he was diabetic.

They also located a backpack behind the driver’s seat which contained numerous used needles, glass pipes with burn marks consistent with methamphetamine, needles with a dark substance inside of them, a large metal spoon with a string wrapped handle which contained a black tar-like substance on it, and a glass water bong “consistent with the kind used to smoke methamphetamine,” according to the report.

Neither Anthony nor Lauren claimed to know anything about the backpack.

When Anthony was detained, he told Lauren to “tell the truth,” and she stated the backpack belonged to her.

She was also taken into custody.

While booking the backpack into evidence, deputies also located a small plastic bag with what appeared to be 1 gram of methamphetamine inside, two syringes with “a dark substance” in them, and a clear glass vial with a dark, wet substance inside.

Deputies also located numerous debit cards belonging to Anthony Gelsone inside the backpack, as well as a pawn slip for him.

Charges for Anthony Gelsone: Possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, suspended registration, DAS violation of bail conditions.

Bail: $6,886

Charges for Lauren Gelsone: Possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail: $3,637
