Wild Horse Advocates host 31-Mile Motorcade from Reno to Carson Saturday
At 9 AM, October 16, Saturday, cars and motorcycles will assemble at the Fleischman Planetarium in Reno, where they will be decorated with posters, festooned with flags and surrounded by banners.
At 9:30 AM, a news conference will be held by MARR PLAN Campaign's Jackie Oliveri and MARR PLAN originator Anthony Marr, followed by brief media interviews for participants. At 10 AM, the motorcade will depart from Reno and drive the 31 miles to Carson City.
Upon arrival in Carson City around 10:30, LG1 Jackie Oliveri and perhaps a few local horse-loving children will present a MARR PLAN Plaque to Governor Steve Sisolak of Nevada where the vast majority of all on-range wild horses reside - truly the "Wild Horse Capital of America" if not the world.
If he is not available at the time, the plaque will be entrusted to the Nevada State Museum in their custody for a time of convenience for the governor.
The MARR PLAN can terminate helicopter roundup and release all captives while SAVING tax-payers upwards of $120 million a year. This is for 2022 alone, and increasing year by year to $350 million for 2030.
The "10 years to AML" policy of the Bureau of Land Management will lead inevitably to mass slaughter. It is a death spiral - for the wild horses, and for the BLM itself.
Although the MARR PLAN is by definition the plan of a federal program, its benefits to Nevada will be considerable. Point no. 4 in the 5-point plan will generate employment opportunities for field personnel throughout the state.
Another feature of the MARR PLAN is to create one water well per HMA (Herd Management Area) to keep the watering holes of each herd topped up year round, as well as to provide supplementary feeding when extra-severe droughts occur. This, in the age of climate change, is no small benefit.
