Break out your sweaters, Carson City: this weekend will be chilly
Good morning Carson City, if you look out your windows this morning, you may find a grey sky warning of a chilly day. We are finally getting some true fall weather, which should be sticking around for a few days, with the potential for hard freezes growing into early next week.
According to The Weather Channel, rain and high elevation snow are possible today, followed by even colder temperatures on Monday and Tuesday.
High temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees below normal today and tomorrow, while overnight lows could reach below freezing in the valleys. Saturday night into Sunday morning is currently the coldest night predicted.
Freeze potential will increase as colder air drops into the region through Monday and Tuesday, with hard freezes highly probably by Tuesday morning.
Make sure to drain your irrigation systems to avoid freezing and breaking!
Snow could be possible in the sierras at 8,000 feet or above, and drivers needing to travel over the pass should use caution.
Snow could be possible in even lower elevations on Monday and Tuesday, with as low as 5,000 feet possibly seeing some dusting.
In Carson City, the high today is 57 degrees with a low of 37; tomorrow, the high will be 61 with a low of 30. On Sunday, daytime temperatures will rise just slightly with a high of 68 degrees and a low of 30 degrees, before dropping on Monday with a 40 percent chance of snow, with a high of 46 degrees and a low of 34 degrees. The lowest night is slated to be Tuesday with a low of 25 degrees and a daytime high of 50 degrees.
