Carson City deputies arrest man for punching deputy, running after giving false identification, allegedly exposing himself
A transient man was arrested by Carson City deputies Thursday for battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest, and providing false identification to avoid prosecution.
According to the report, Anthony George Athens was arrested just after 8 a.m. Thursday morning in the area of Burton and Peters Street after dispatch advised that a man was exposing himself and suspected of publicly inappropriate behavior.
Upon arrival deputies met with a male driver and a female passenger. The male identified himself as a different name and a date of birth, but stated he did not know his social security number.
However, the female passenger told deputies the man’s name as Anthony Athens.
Deputies told Athens to turn around and put his arms behind his back because he was being detained for providing a false name. Athens turned around, but then pulled his arms away, spun around and punched a deputy in the chest before running east on Burton Street “in a zig zag pattern” while turning around to look at deputies and laugh, according to the report.
Deputies caught up to him on Peters Street and were able to grab him, but he continued to actively fight, according to the report. He resisted and began kicking at deputies.
A third deputy responded on scene and they were able to get Athens under control. In his pocket they found a wallet which gave his real name, and dispatch advised he had two warrants out for his arrest; one for battery and another for violation of a suspended sentence.
He was taken into custody on the warrants, along with battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest, and providing false identification to avoid prosecution.

— A 61-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for violation of bail conditions and possession of drug paraphernalia after being stopped for driving without license plates on her vehicle.
The woman told deputies she had been trying to get license plates for her vehicle but her appointment with the DMV was weeks away, and provided deputies with her temporary registration and insurance.
Dispatch advised the woman was on supervision with alternative sentencing with a no alcohol clause. Deputies saw that on the floor of the vehicle there was a black plastic bag with a bottle of whiskey and two beer cans inside.
Dispatch advised that alternative sentencing wanted her arrested for possession of alcohol.
The woman was arrested and inside her vehicle deputies located three additional cans of beer, eight hypodermic needles in an eyeglass case, and a white plastic straw with a brown residue inside.
She was taken into custody without issue.
Bail: $4,137 cash only
