Carson City deputies make arrests for DUI, drugs, felony battery and assault

A 51-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI and driving without a valid license after allegedly striking a vehicle in a parking lot and then passing out, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy report.

The man, listed as a transient, was taken into custody at 12:02 p.m. in the 2700 block of South Carson Street. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the area in reference to an intoxicated driver. Dispatch advised the driver crashed into another vehicle in a motel parking lot and then fell asleep in the driver's seat.

A deputy made contact with the reporting party and witnesses to collect information and evidence and then spoke to the driver, who showed signs of intoxication and was unable to maintain balance and had to be assisted when walking, the arrest report states.

He told the deputy he had a pint and a half of Fireball whiskey and a couple beers. The arresting deputy did not attempt field sobriety testing for safety reasons. The man provided a preliminary breath test of .356 and was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation due to the high concentration of alcohol and then taken to jail. Bail: $1,329.

The victim backed away and the suspect put the knife back on the kitchen counter, the report states.

The suspect was interviewed and stated he was upset with the victim and said the two fought and that he was punched in the face. The suspect had swelling and dried blood on his left cheek and brow line area consistent with being struck in the face, the report states. He denied medical attention.
