Carson Valley photo contest challenges region’s photographers
It’s no secret that Carson Valley is an exceptionally beautiful pocket of northern Nevada where nature, landscapes and legendary characters come together throughout the region’s four communities of Genoa, Gardnerville, Minden and Topaz Lake. The destination offers photographers a wonderland of opportunities to capture telling moments in time.
To celebrate this, Visit Carson Valley is challenging amateur and professional photographers alike to shoot five different photos from the same location over a period of 10 days. The contest, dubbed #WhyCV, takes advantage of the area’s ever-changing scenery and aims to showcase how a single location can be beautiful in more ways than one.
“The idea behind this friendly contest originated several years ago as a way to demonstrate the thought, ‘Why do you love Carson Valley?’” Jan Vandermade, Executive Director of Visit Carson Valley, said. “The responses are reflected through the great imagery we have seen and continue to receive.”
The #WhyCV photography contest begins Oct. 1 and ends Oct. 10. Entrants are asked to submit five (5) images from the same location over a period of 10 days to discover@visitcarsonvalley.org. Include your name, and the location of the photo. Winners will be notified by no later than Oct. 16. Selected photos will appear on the Visit Carson Valley blog and shared on social media.
