Carson City's new Capital City Sushi replaces Kim Lee's; former owner's death remains a mystery
A new sushi restaurant, Capital City Sushi, has taken the place of Kim Lee's, which had closed in March of this year.
The popular sushi restaurant, located at 319 North Carson Street in downtown Carson City, closed down earlier this year amidst the COVID-19 shutdown, and Capital City Sushi took over the location soon after.
Kim Lee’s former owner, Tony Pastini of Gardnerville, was killed in February 2019 in a horrific plane crash under mysterious circumstances. The plane appeared to have broken apart mid air and crashed into a home, killing four residents inside.
Inside the wreckage, responders located law enforcement credentials stating Pastini was a retired Chicago police officer; however, those credentials were determined to be fake. Furthermore, the number on the badge had been reported as lost or stolen in 1978.
Pastini had also been born Jordan Isaacson, but had changed his name in the 70s for unknown reasons.
The plane Pastini had been piloting had been registered not in Nevada, but in Klamath County, Ore. The address on the plane’s registration was found to be a quilting shop in Klamath Falls, which was owned by a Debbie Pastini, despite being registered under “KL Management LLC,” which Oregon officials had no records for. However, the company was registered with the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office.
Kim Lee’s had been temporarily closed following Pastini’s mysterious death, but had reopened for business again shortly after.
However, according to a Capital City Sushi Employee, Kim Lee's shut down permanently at the beginning of the COVID-19 shut down in March, and the new sushi restaurant quietly opened at the location shortly after.
Capital City Sushi offers a full new menu including hand rolls, nigiri, cooked and raw rolls, dessert, and more.
