Carson City authorities arrest woman after narcotics found in lost purse

A Carson City woman faces felony drug charges after a lost purse inside a casino turned up with several narcotics inside.
Laura Sherlock-Yong, 46, was arrested Sept. 27 in the 500 block of North Carson Street.
According to the arrest report officers were contacted regarding a purse that was found by security officers inside a casino. The purse was opened for the purpose to find out who it belonged to and inside there was two baggies with suspected drugs, a straw for doing drugs and a pill bottle with several types of medication, according to the report.
The woman was called over the intercom and she went to the security office and grabbed her purse and began to take off before she was stopped by an officer. When deputies questioned the woman about the drugs, she told them she had prescriptions for all the pills and did not want to carry them in several bottles.
The baggies were tested and came back positive for opium alkaloids and amphetamines. Among the drugs in the pill bottle were (23) morphine sulphate; (35) oxycodone hydrochloride, (22) morphine sulphate with extended release, (1.5) diazepam, (5) zolpidem tartrate. She faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of dangerous drugs without a prescription. Bail was set at $2,500.

In other arrests:
A Carson City tattoo artist was arrested Sept. 27 and faces a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace for allegedly yelling and screaming at people near his apartment building.
The man, 24, had been drinking and yelling at neighbors in the 600 block of Roop Street. The apartment manager made a citizens arrest.

— Those arrested are assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
