Ground broken on new Carson Tahoe Care Center in Carson City

Carson Tahoe Health, in partnership with Prestige Care, broke ground Tuesday morning on the new Carson Tahoe Care Center, a senior living community located on Mountain Street in Carson City.

According to a press release from Prestige Care, Inc., the new facility will be state-of-the-art, specializing in comprehensive transitional rehabilitation and memory care

“We are excited to be partnering with Carson Tahoe Health and officially breaking ground on the new Carson Tahoe Health Center here in Carson City, which will offer local residents and their families a senior memory care center that provides comprehensive service and treatment plans in one centralized location,” said Hollie Fowler, spokesperson with Prestige Care. “When combined with Carson Tahoe Health’s strong brand of compassionate healthcare and clinical expertise in the region, our post-acute transitional services for patients following a hospital stay and our Expressions memory care program, will help to provide patients and their families with an all-inclusive care experience.”

Carson Tahoe Health invested the land for the project, Prestige said.

Expected completion of the facility will be late next year, Fowler said.

Once opened, the 98,000 square-foot two-story center will have the capacity to treat skilled nursing and rehabilitation patients, as well as assisted living memory care residents, Prestige said.

The Carson Tahoe Care Center will feature Prestige’s memory care program, Expressions, as well as a transitional rehabilitation center unit, all backed by clinical expertise to provide a comprehensive care continuum, Prestige said.

The new community will serve 134 residents, offering 80 beds for skilled nursing patients and 54 beds for memory care assisted living residents.

The property will also feature multiple dining spaces, a large art therapy space with equipment, other activity spaces, a second story deck, indoor courtyard, walking paths, and a park with outdoor seating.

Approximately 125 total employees will care for the center’s residents and families, with 45 of those staff members devoted to the memory care program.

Prestige’s Expressions memory care is award-winning, Prestige said, for its person-centered approach to care for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia.

Earning the Innovators Award from the International Council on Active Aging, Prestige’s Expressions program is centered around knowing each person’s life story, combining integrated and individualized programming and experiences for each resident.

The program uses community-based services to help alleviate the effects of the disease for patients and their families, Prestige said.

The new Carson Tahoe Care Center will be the newest addition to Carson Tahoe Health’s already diverse network of both comprehensive and specialized care that serves and supports communities in Northern Nevada and Eastern California.

Carson Tahoe Health is a local, not-for-profit healthcare system with 240 licensed acute care beds serving a population of over 250,000 around the region.

Its network features two hospitals, two urgent cares, an emergent care center, outpatient services and a provider network with 20 regional locations.

The system is headquartered on the 80-acre medical campus located in North Carson City off Medical Parkway.
