Native and Newcomers Club of Carson City: A primer of who we are and what we do
Many have asked what the Native and Newcomers Club is all about and what we do. Here's a chance for you to get to know us better as we aim to promote positive programs in Carson City.
What is our mission? To reach out and raise funds for our local nonprofit community organizations. We are a group of all volunteers and charity is our mission.
We make crafts and hold sales to raise funds to meet the goals such as scholarships for both Western Nevada College and Carson High School.
We support many nonprofit organizations such as Kids In Transition from domestic abuse, plus Tender Loving Care, where terminally ill children get a chance to go to a camp for a week at Lake Tahoe, away from the hospital environment, with medical staff supervision.
If this sounds like a club you would like, do check us out as we have a great social group and would welcome you. We meet monthly except in August. Our meetings are held at The Black Bear Diner at Max Casino, 900 South Carson Street, on the second Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. We eat lunch first and our meetings follow lunch. We have scheduled speakers who join us to enlighten us with information on subjects of interest to most people.
