Dayton Valley prepares to host PGA qualifier for 26th year, practice rounds begin Sunday
Some of the best up and coming golfers from across the country will soon descend on the Dayton Valley Golf Course to begin their quest for a PGA tour card. The Dayton Valley Golf Course is hosting the first round of qualifying for the Korn Ferry tour, which is a developmental tour for the PGA.
The Korn Ferry Tour replaced the Web.com Tour in 2019 as the path to a PGA tour card. Practice rounds take place September 26th and 27th with tournament play taking place from the 28th through October 1st. The course is closed for play to public during the tournament, but spectators are welcome at the event. Admission is free.
This is the 26th consecutive year that the Dayton Valley Golf Course has hosted the tournament.
“The course is in great condition, so we expect to see some great golf next week,” said course owner and General Manager Jim Kepler. “It’s a great opportunity for our community to see some very talented golfers up close. I would also encourage parents whose kids are interested in golf to come on out.”
37 PGA tour card holders began their path to professional golf by qualifying on the Arnold Palmer designed course. Kepler says you could see the next PGA rising star during the qualifying. “There are so many talented players competing in this tournament, it wouldn’t surprise me to see some of them on the PGA Tour in the future. The tournament could also inspire some of our area’s young golfers to improve their game.”
75 players will be competing to advance to the next round of qualifying. Tee times begin at approximately 9am each day barring any frost delays. Players tee off on both hole number 1 and 10. Spectators are welcome to walk along the course, or bring a small chair and sit on the perimeter. The 101 Bar and Grill will be open for food and beverages.
