Carson City area weather: Fall arrives with warming trend through the weekend
With the first day of fall officially arriving Thursday, the past few days of much cooler weather, rain and even high elevation snow will be replaced with a warming trend, bringing sunshine and temperatures to the mid 80s for most lower valley locations by the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures will increase to or slightly above seasonal averages through early next week for the greater Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas. Lower valleys should see highs mostly in the 80s through the weekend into early next week.
Some areas in and around the basin and range could even see highs teasing the 90 degrees mark early next week Monday and Tuesday, NWS forecasters said.
Highs across Sierra locations will range in the 70s to low 80s with overnight lows dropping close to freezing but mostly stay in the mid 30s to low 40s into early next week.
The precipitation received over the last several days has helped with the smoke situation as 1-3 inches fell across the Mosquito burn area, according to Cal Fire.
NWS forecasters note that though the fire is still burning and not fully contained, the upcoming drier/warmer weather may cause it to flare back up. But for now, it looks like blue skies going into the weekend.
