Carson City Kiwanis hosts Saturday pancreatic cancer awareness run, golf tourney and bench press
Each September for the past five years, Carson City Kiwanis has been making it their duty to fundraise and bring awareness to pancreatic cancer. This year, to that end, they’ll be hosting the 6th annual Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day event on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The fundraiser will offer three events to further the cause: a golf tournament hosted by the Silver Oak Golf Course, a pancreatic cancer walk/run, and a bench press championship competition.
Categories for the 4-person scramble golf tournament include Men, Women, Senior Men (55+), Senior Women (55+), and Mixed divisions. Entry fee to participate is $100.00 per person. Team sign-ups are available now – teams of 4 players, couples and singles up to 136 players. The tournament sold out in 2018 and is expected to do so again this year.
The walk, fun run events include a 2-mile walk/run and a 5-mile (8k) walk/run. Categories include adults and children 12 and under. The entry fees are $30 for adults and free for children.
The bench press championship divisions include 12-years-old and under, Teen (13-17), Men, Women, Senior Men (55+), Senior Women (55+), and Super Senior (70+). All entries are $10.00 each.
All events will take place at the Silver Oak Golf and Event Center on Saturday, September 21 and check-in begins at 8 a.m. inside the clubhouse.
All proceeds support the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and local scholarships.
