Carson City pedestrian arrested for intoxication, allegedly waving a stick at a vehicle, and attempting to run from deputies
A 27-year-old Carson City man was arrested for being a drunken pedestrian and obstruction Thursday night after allegedly waving a stick at a vehicle and attempting to run from deputies.
According to the report, deputies were patrolling the area of Fairview Drive and Highway 50 when they saw a vehicle on the side of the road. Deputies pulled over to speak with the driver, who stated she had been driving down the road when a man stepped into the roadway waving a stick at her.
She then pointed out the man, who deputies recognized through previous contacts at the Carson City Jail.
Deputies spoke with the man and smelled an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person, along with red eyes and slurred speech. The man provided a preliminary breath test, which resulted in a BAC of .218.
With the man’s level of intoxication, deputies informed him they would be placing him on a civil protective custody hold for his own safety.
The man became upset and stated he did not want to go to jail for the CPC. According to the report, deputies told him he was going to have to go due to his level of intoxication.
Finally, the man stood up after several requests and seemed as if he was going to comply with instructions, according to the deputy.
Then the man attempted to take off running, but tripped on his own feet and fell to the ground, sustaining a small cut to his face.
Carson City firefighters cleared him at the scene, and he was taken to the Carson City Jail without further incident.
