Carson City School Trustees to discuss taking on a $25M bond for school improvements
The next Carson City School District School Board meeting will take place Tuesday Sept. 12 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room within the Carson City Community Center.
Public Comment will be accepted in person, or through virtual participation via email; publiccomment@carson.k12.nv.us no later than 12:30 p.m. the day of the meeting. Email for public comment must include the submitting party’s full name.
Among items on the agenda:
— Trustees will discuss and vote on whether or not to declare the necessity of a new bond to construct, acquire, improve and equip schools within the district in an amount not to exceed $25 million.
— Trustees will discuss establishing a partnership with Kelly Services to provide substitute staffing services within the district.
The district is facing an ongoing challenge when it comes to substitute staffing, and the current substitute recruitment and management system has encountered “significant shortcomings,” according to the agenda. Kelly Services is a national company providing substitute staffing.
— A discussion will be held on the use and scheduling of the athletic fields at Carson High School.
— An informational update will be given by Dr. Tanya Scott regarding the English Learner Program in the district for the 2022-23 school year.
— An information update will be given by Spencer Winward regarding student enrollment in the district for 2023-24 and any budgetary impacts.
— Trustees will present an Award for Excellence in Enterprise Risk Management Excellence Program (ERMEP) from Nevada POOL/PACT.
