Carson City emergency crews respond to rollover with injuries on I-580 at William Street

Carson City Fire Department, sheriff's deputies and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded Sunday evening to a vehicle rollover with multiple injuries on southbound I-580 south of the William Street exit.

A Care Flight air ambulance and four ground ambulances were ordered. There were a total of eight people in the vehicle, with the patients suffering serious, moderate to minor injuries, according to a battalion chief on scene. Some of the injured were children.

All eight were taken to the hospital, according to the battalion chief, with the most serious being flown by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno. The injured person being flown was bleeding severely when paramedics arrived, with first responders applying a tourniquet.

The rollover was reported at 5:47 p.m. First responders report the vehicle rolled several times into a field. No other vehicles were involved.

Motorists can expect delays. We will update when more information becomes available. The Nevada Highway Patrol will be handling the investigation.
