Carson City deputies make arrests for assault with deadly weapon, residential burglary and other offenses

A 71-year-old man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly chasing two men with a fire poker, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Ignacio Macario Elias of Carson City was arrested at 8:38 p.m. He was also booked for gross misdemeanor suspicion of concealing evidence. According to the booking report, deputies responded to the area of Sunrise Drive and Arrowhead Drive for a report of a man chasing the reporting party and another with possibly a crow bar.

The suspect was located, along with another subject. The man was identified as Ignacio Elias and was confirmed to match the description of the man chasing two others with what was later identified as a fire poker. The man was detained. The suspect told officers that he saw a vehicle parked in front of his home with wheels on his property.

He said he walked outside and told them to leave. He said the men refused to leave and then went inside and returned with the fire poker in his hand and approached the subject telling them to leave, the arrest report says. The suspect stated he followed the subjects down the street but denied raising the fire poker at them. He stated he suffers from PTSD.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party and another subject who stated they are door sales people and had been selling solar panels throughout the neighborhood. They said they had finished for the day and parked in front of Ignacio's home to have a conversation and stated the man came out from his home, yelling at them to get off his property, the report states.

The reporting party told the suspect he was not parked on his property and was not going to leave. They said the suspect then came out with what they described as a gardening tool in his hand. They then backed away when the man moved toward them with the tool in his hand. The reporting party stated the suspect said he would kill them and lifted the tool as if to hit them, the report states. The reporting party stated they back peddled the entire street until deputies arrived.

Deputies located the tool, which was later found and was approximately 2 feet long with a wooden handle and a curved metal pointed end. The tool was confirmed to belong to the suspect. The reporting party's vehicle was found legally on the roadway in front of the residence.

The suspect was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and concealing evidence. Bail: $20,000.
