Carson City man dies, three injured in vehicle accident in Pine Nut Mountains
A Carson City man died overnight in a motor vehicle accident in the Pine Nut Mountains, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Elliott Jones, 29, from Carson City died as a result of injuries in the motor vehicle accident Monday evening off a trail in the Pine Nut Mountains after the vehicle was found by Care Flight, said DCSO Sgt. Ron Elges. Three others, also from Carson City, suffered minor injuries.
At around 11 p.m. Monday, Douglas County Emergency Communications received a call from Lyon County Emergency Communications, reporting a motor vehicle accident with possible fatalities in an unknown location between Douglas County and Lyon County in the Pine Nut Mountains, said Elges.
The involved parties were unable to give information pertaining to their location due to darkness and being unable to see landmarks.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deployed patrol deputies to a possible GPS coordinate along with Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, Careflight Helicopter, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Drone to attempt to locate the motor vehicle accident based on the GPS coordinate and telephone pinging.
Care Flight was able to locate the motor vehicle accident off a trail in the Pinenut Mountains in Douglas County.
Medical resources were deployed for 3 individuals with minor injuries and one fatality. The persons involved were all adults from Carson City.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash and unfortunate death. The cause of the accident at this time appears to be alcohol related, said Elges.
