Carson City woman arrested for DUI after 'tumbling' to her vehicle following restaurant meal

A 58-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for DUI first after allegedly attempting to drive away from a local restaurant after “tumbling” to her vehicle.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the parking lot of a local restaurant on a report of a woman who has “tumbled” to her vehicle and attempted to drive out of her parking space.

Deputies arrived on scene approximately ten minutes later and saw the woman standing at her vehicle. Speaking with the woman, deputies noted they could smell an alcoholic odor emitting from her person.

Deputies initiated field sobriety tests, during which the woman exhibited multiple indications of impairment, including the inability to stand without swaying.

While talking to the woman, she stated she had consumed one to two glasses of wine with her dinner, and her last drink had been thirty minutes prior. She stated she had eaten a salad for dinner.

During the field sobriety tests, the woman allegedly told deputies “I can’t do that (sobriety test) normally.”

Deputies conducted a preliminary breath test, which resulted in a 0.182 BAC.

Following the test the woman stated, “My life is f***** now.”

Deputies took the woman into custody where she was transferred to the Carson City Jail to have her blood drawn.

Bail: $1,137

— In other arrests, a 59-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 3200 block of Market Street for Petit Larceny, with a bail amount of $352.

UPDATE 8:26PM: The Nevada Highway Patrol has confirmed one person has died in the Tuesday night crash at Highway 50 near Airport Road. The cause is under investigation. One vehicle involved left the scene of the crash. NHP had earlier advised it was looking for a suspect vehicle with heavy front end damage. At 8:41 p.m., NHP advised it was no longer looking for the vehicle. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

UPDATE 8:05PM: Care Flight air ambulances have taken patients from the separate crashes that happened Tuesday night on Highway 50 East and Highway 50 West to the hospital, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Hannah DeGoey.

NV Energy reports an outage Tuesday night in the area of Sneddon Way in northeast Carson City between Airport Road and Sherman Lane. The outage was reported at 7:45 p.m and affects 61 customers in the area. The utility says power should be restored by 10:30 p.m.

CARSON CITY — As Empire Elementary School works towards becoming more STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) focused, all the students in grades K-5 participated in a school-wide project Tuesday afternoon called "Barbie Bungee." The project was designed to allow students to stretch their minds and explore their engineering savvy by applying it first-hand through an outdoor bungee-jump … err ... test.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Street Enforcement Team concluded a 3-month long narcotics investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine at 1596 County Road in Minden.

Early Tuesday morning, Douglas SET, members of the Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team as well as the Tri-Net Narcotic Task Force conducted a pre-dawn search warrant leading to the arrest of four individuals.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested Monday for felony fraud and other charges after allegedly attempting to pull money from bank accounts that were not hers, a Carson City sheriff's report states.

UPDATE TUESDAY: The Hungry Fire burning north of Reno in the Spanish Springs area is around 300 acres and is 5 percent contained, according to incident command on Tuesday morning. Around 125 firefighting personnel are working the fire, which began Monday afternoon.

Carson City Fire Department has sent a brush unit to the Hungry Valley fire that started Monday afternoon in the Spanish Springs area north of Reno. Multiple fire agencies have been called to help fight the fire, which started around 1 p.m. and is burning in the hills east of the Hungry Valley Colony.

RENO — Nevada’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology is hosting its 14th annual Small Business Expo on Friday, Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Mt. Rose Ballroom at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

The Dave Matthews Band has made Harvey’s outdoor venue a regular stop since 2013, appearing on the shores of Lake Tahoe four of its last six tours. CARSON CITY — A convoy of vintage military vehicles, making its way cross country to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first U.S. Army Transcontinental Convoy from Washington, D.C. to San Francisco, will make a pit stop for lunch at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City on Thursday, Sept. 12.

In support of the recommendations from the Federal Commission on School Safety's final report, the Carson City School District is pleased to announce the Nevada Department of Education has awarded $1.15 Million in grant funding for school safety.

A 34-year-old man was arrested early Sunday in the 300 block of East William Street for suspicion of felony burglary after allegedly stealing cash from a drive-through window at a fast food restaurant, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Sentimental Journey departs KMEV

The aircraft known as "Sentimental Journey," tail number N9323Z, was at the Minden-Tahoe Airport from Sept. 3 through Sept. 8. During this time the public was able to crawl though the aircraft, to see what it was like to be in a real WWII bomber, and was also able to purchase tickets for rides in various locations within the plane. Carson City Historical Society will present a Heritage Festival to celebrate the 50th year of the Society. The event will be held at the Foreman-Roberts House Museum Park, 1207 N. Carson St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019. This is a free event.
