Capital Florist, Carson City’s newest full service flower shop, opens its doors on the west side

The newest full service flower shop has opened in Carson City on the west side, and Capital Florist held their grand opening recently to celebrate their new business.

Owner Amber Candia has a long history in the florist industry, which she describes as being a passion more so than a job.

It started with her mother, who was a florist for Universal Studios, and would create floral arrangements for the movies.

“She was on set when she was pregnant with me, and when she went into labor everyone panicked, but she chose to finish the arrangement she was working on, then drove herself to the hospital!” said Candia.

Candia has been in the industry herself for the past 18 years, and has been the floral manager at most of the local Carson City grocery stores at one time or another.

Now, she has opened her own location, located at 411 West Third Street to independently serve the community.

“Anything you can think of, I can make,” said Candia.

They are currently open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and orders can also be placed through their website, https://capitalfloristincarson.com/

The shop is also active on social media, which displays a variety of Candia’s work, whether it be for weddings, businesses, simple bouquets or more.
