Dayton woman, Las Vegas man identified in fatal August 25 crash at US-50 and Occidental Drive
The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Highway 50 and Occidental Drive in Dayton on August 25 that killed a Dayton woman and a Las Vegas man.
Catherine Collier, 54, of Dayton and Devon Woolard, 24 of Las Vegas died in the crash. According to NHP, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at approximately 5:02 p.m., NHP troopers responded to an injury crash at US-50 and Occidental Drive.
Preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2007 Ford Focus was traveling westbound on US-50. A black 2012 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling eastbound on US-50.
The Ford failed to maintain its travel lane, crossed the center turn lane and entered the eastbound travel lanes. The front of the Ford struck the front of the Chevrolet. The Ford became fully engulfed in flames, according to NHP.
The driver of the Ford, Devon Woolard, died at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, Catherine Collier, also died at the scene.
This crash is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) - NHP Case #210801747.
