Prison inmate walks away from work detail near Carson City DMV
A minimum security inmate walked away from work detail Tuesday morning near the Department of Motor Vehicles in Carson City, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.
Inmate Michael Ariola walked away at approximately 10 a.m. this Tuesday morning. He was housed at the Stewart Conservation Camp located in south Carson City.
Inmate Michael Ariola, #1182512, 35, is a white male, who arrived at NDOC from Pershing County, August 11, 2017. Ariola was serving 16 to 72 months for Possession of Stolen Property. He was last seen Tuesday morning while working on a landscaping crew near the downtown DMV location.
Ariola is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 185 pounds, hazel eyes, with a fair complexion and dark hair. Ariola has a tattoo on his left hand that says “tattoo machine” and a tribal design on his right lower leg. A retake warrant has been issued. Anyone with information on whereabouts of Michael Ariola, please contact 911 or their local law enforcement agency.
DOC partners with the Nevada Division of Forestry to run 9 Conservation Camps in the state. The camps are for minimum security inmates who are scheduled to be released within two years.
Inmates in the camps are trained to fight wildland fires and are deployed to handle weed abatement, highway clean-up and other jobs when in the off season. Over 500 inmates assisted with sandbagging and other jobs during the recent flooding in Northern Nevada.
