Carson Senators football squares off against McQueen Lancers Thursday
The Carson Senators varsity football team gears up for its first home game of the season against the McQueen Lancers on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Carson’s junior varsity squad plays the Foothill Cougars at 5:30 p.m. The freshman team faces Foothill on the road at 3:30 p.m.
The Senators’ varsity team is 1-0 on the season following a 57-28 victory over the Lower Lake Trojans. McQueen is coming off a tough 31-15 loss to Del Campo.
In order for Carson’s varsity team to come away with the win, it starts with the battle up front. McQueen nose guard Lipoi Valele can clog up the middle and wreak havoc on the Senators’ heavy run attack.
The Senators must shift their focus on winning the battle of the trenches and making the most of their drives on offense. Defensively, Carson must wrap up in the open field.
Carson will have its hands full, but the Senators will look to build momentum following an impressive win over Lower Lake.
