Taste of Downtown Carson City canceled, event moved to June 2022
Due to events currently impacting our community Advocates to End Domestic Violence has made the difficult decision to postpone the 2021 Carson City Taste of Downtown, originally scheduled for Sept. 11, 2021 to June 18 of 2022.
“It’s unfortunate we had to come to this decision, but public safety is always our utmost concern,” said Lisa Lee, Executive Director of Advocates. “While at its core the Taste is a fundraiser, it’s also a community celebration, and when we can’t ensure the public’s safety at our event due to either poor air quality or concerns around COVID-19, we know the responsible move is to hold off until next year.”
AEDV has notified participating vendors, bands, and sponsors and others involved so as to not have them spend financial or personnel resources on an event that won’t be taking place.
“We are so grateful to have the support of our local restaurants, shops and sponsors and made the call this week to postpone in order to not have them waste resources late next week,” continued Lee. “We are beginning the process now of notifying ticket holders, by email, and while they have options for a refund or to roll their tickets to next year’s event, we do ask that they consider donating the cost of their ticket to support our programs and services.”
This will be the second year in a row that AEDV has not been able to host their largest annual fundraiser. Funds from the event benefit their programs and services for women fleeing abuse.
AEDV has scheduled the 2022 Taste of Downtown for June 18, 2022 and is hopeful that nothing will stop another year’s event from needing to be cancelled.
