Carson City deputies make arrests for child luring, domestic battery of pregnant victim
A 26-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of gross misdemeanor luring a child, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Deputies were dispatched at 8:49 p.m. to a Woodside Drive apartment building regarding an older man being in a dating relationship with a teen girl. Deputies were given a vehicle description.
Officers located the vehicle, and observed a girl inside the vehicle. A deputy asked the girl to step out of the vehicle. The girl identified herself and admitted she was 13. The other subject in the vehicle was a 26-year-old man.
The girl was asked how she knew the man. She stated she met him less than a week ago and they are now best friends. The officer asked what they do together. The girl stated they just sit in the vehicle and talk. The deputy asked if their relationship was anything more than just friends. The girl stated no, they didn't do anything wrong and that the man has never done anything inappropriate or sexual in nature toward her, the report states.
The deputy went to speak with the man, and noticed that his entire vehicle had empty and unopened beer cans littering the inside. The man was fully clothed and did not look disheveled. The officer noticed writing on the man's hand and asked him to pull up his sleeve.
The officer observed someone had drawn on his hand a heart by a name, with a felt style marker, which was on the floorboard of the passenger seat. The man submitted to a breath test with a result of .03, the report states.
A deputy spoke with the girl who refused to say what was written on the man's hand. She finally admitted there was writing on his hand but stated it was another girl's name and she stated she did not write the phrase on the man's hand.
The officer noticed writing on the girl's left hand. There was a phrase in Spanish, later translated to "I have a toxic boyfriend" followed by M+A = heart with the number 96143. The girl submitted to a preliminary breath test with a .0 result, the report states.
The officer contacted the girl's legal guardian and asked if he knew the girl was friends with a 26-year-old man. The guardian stated no, and that he has never given her permission to be around a 26-year-old man. He stated that he had no idea who the man was or that he had been talking with the girl for several days. The guardian also stated he was approximately four hours away on a job with his company. The teen was placed into custody of her sister.
The investigation found the suspect had taken away the girl from her apartment and had not gained permission to be around the girl. He was arrested for suspicion of luring a child, a gross misdemeanor offense. Bail: $2,500.
