UPDATE 8:17PM: NV Energy reports 1,943 customers remain without power around Carson City as of 8:15 p.m. due to what it has called "equipment damage." The utility expects power to be restored by 10:15 p.m.

NV Energy reports at least 6 power outages Wednesday night around Carson City affecting 3,258 customers, mostly off of North Mountain Street. The utility says it is due to damage done to equipment. NV Energy says it should have power restored in affected areas by 10 to 10:15 p.m.

Red's Old 395 Grill in Carson City has partnered with the Sierra Therapeutic Equestrian Program, also known as STEP, to host a fundraiser this Saturday, July 14 at the restaurant.

CARSON CITY — Another chapter in Western Nevada College leadership is underway. Dr. Vincent R. Solis began his WNC presidency on July 2. The national nonprofit, Feeding Pets of the Homeless, welcomed Sierra Veterinary Hospital in Carson City as its first donation site a decade ago. Since then the hospital has collected more than 1,600 pounds of pet food and supplies from their clients and the community.
