Carson City emergency crews called to crash involving juvenile pedestrian at 5th and Saliman
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Monday night to a vehicle crash involving a juvenile that happened in the area of Fifth and Saliman streets.
The call came into dispatch shortly before 7:25 p.m. First responders report the 13-year-old male was breathing and alert but suffered injuries, according to first responders on scene. A medical helicopter was ordered.
It is unclear whether the juvenile was on a bicycle or walking on the street. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Traffic in the area of the accident was halted. Motorists were advised to stay clear and find alternate routes.
Southbound traffic on Saliman was diverted to Como.
The child was taken to the Carson City Airport via ambulance and then flown to the trauma ward at Renown Medical Center in Reno.
