Theft at Carson City Walmart leads to arrest for felony, misdemeanor warrants
A 37-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday for felony and misdemeanor warrants and other alleged offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Amy Allen was taken into custody at 10:35 a.m. She was booked for felony warrants issued out of Carson City Justice Court alleging violation of bail conditions and larceny from a person; and a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. She was also booked for suspicion of obstructing, resisting arrest and petit larceny, all misdemeanor offenses.
According to the booking report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy was in the area of the Walmart parking lot at 3200 Market Street. Three Walmart employees waved the deputy down and advised they observed the woman shove merchandise into a backpack. The employees pointed out the suspect, who was rapidly walking away from them toward the area of North Roop Street and Hot Springs Road.
The deputy turned his patrol unit around and caught up with the suspect, activating his unit's emergency tone and red and blue emergency lights to alert the suspect. The suspect ignored the alert and continued walking. The officer instructed the suspect to drop her backpack, which she did, according to the report.
The officer instructed the suspect to turn around and that she was going to be detained.The woman was uncooperative and not following lawful commands and was taken into custody for resisting and obstructing. She provided a partial name and a date of birth. Dispatch provided descriptors of tattoos on the woman and confirmed her identity, the report states.
Walmart advised they wanted to pursue charges for the alleged larceny. Bail: No bail hold in lieu of a hearing for the warrants.
In other arrests:
— A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for a misdemeanor warrant, failure to comply, issued out of Sparks Municipal Court. Bail: $7,500 cash.
— A 35-year-old man, Mark Wolf, was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and three counts possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the booking report, a CCSO sergeant made a traffic stop at a gas station and convenience store in the 3900 block of Highway 50 East.
The sergeant stopped the vehicle for speeding, 74 mph in a 55 mph zone. The report states that upon contact with the driver, he appeared nervous and began reaching around the vehicle. He was asked to step out of the vehicle.
A K9 did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive for narcotics. Officers located a loaded hypodermic device, several prescription pills, a glass pipe with a milky white substance, a tooter straw, commonly used for inhaling narcotics, and a spoon with black burnt substance in it. Bail: $3,637.
