Nevada Highway Patrol reports fatal crash on Highway 50 near Dayton

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal crash that happened at around 5 p.m. Wednesday night on Highway 50 and Occidental Drive east of Dayton. There are two vehicles involved with two confirmed driver fatalities, according to NHP.

The eastbound lane of Highway 50 is closed near Occidental because of the crash. NHP says motorists can expect lengthy travel delays near the area of the crash and that they should find alternate routes.

There were only the drivers in the vehicles that crashed, said NHP spokesperson Hannah DeGoey. The cause is under investigation. We will update as more information becomes available.

Carson City emergency crews are responding to a report of a single-vehicle crash into the center median guardrail of the Interstate 580 southbound lane at the Clearview Drive underpass.

Law enforcement is on scene providing traffic control at the scene of the crash. No reports of any injuries. Motorists in the area can expect slow going until the accident is cleared.
