Nevada Highway Patrol reports fatal crash on Highway 50 near Dayton

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, there's plenty of jam-packed activities around the Carson City region. There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. CARSON CITY — Fulfilling some of his major campaign promises, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak has signed into law bills implementing progressive priorities including a minimum wage hike, mandatory paid sick leave and collective bargaining for state employees.

The Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City received a donation of 1,000 pair of Bombas socks. The donation, valued at $12,000, comes from Bombas' thoughtfulness of "Giving Back" to the community.

A 33-year-old female inmate at Carson City Jail faces a gross misdemeanor charge of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription after pills were located in her belongings, a sheriff's deputy said.

CARSON CITY — Lane reductions will take place on U.S. 50 in Dayton Saturday, June 15 as the Nevada Department of Transportation installs pedestrian safety improvements.

UPDATE 12:32PM Both lanes of Highway 50 are now open for travel following Thursday morning's fatal crash involving two pickups. One person is in custody. Impairment is suspected, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

UPDATE 9:21AM: One person has been arrested and impairment is suspected in a fatal crash that happened Thursday morning near Round Hill at Lake Tahoe, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. One person died in the crash that happened at around 7 a.m. The crash involved two pickups, with one of the vehicles hauling a trailer. There is around 150 feet of debris scattered across the entirety of the highway. Highway 50 remains closed.

The Nevada Highway Patrol closed Highway 50 West Thursday morning due to a fatal vehicle crash near Round Hill in Douglas County at Lake Tahoe. Lanes are closed in both directions between Zephyr Cove and Elk Point. NHP says expect delays and avoid the area.

Single lane closures will take place on South Stewart Street in Carson City this Saturday, June 15 as the Nevada Department of Transportation resurfaces the roadway as part of a project to install pedestrian safety improvements.

Four Carson City residents were arrested Sunday night after a woman allegedly entered a Topaz Ranch Estates home claiming she was owed money and waving a pistol.

Carson City Fire Department was called late Wednesday morning to a fully engulfed vehicle fire in the westbound lane of Highway 50 West on the valley side, around a mile past Golf Club Drive.
