Nevada Highway Patrol reports fatal crash on Highway 50 near Dayton

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal crash that happened at around 5 p.m. Wednesday night on Highway 50 and Occidental Drive east of Dayton. There are two vehicles involved with two confirmed driver fatalities, according to NHP.

The eastbound lane of Highway 50 is closed near Occidental because of the crash. NHP says motorists can expect lengthy travel delays near the area of the crash and that they should find alternate routes.

There were only the drivers in the vehicles that crashed, said NHP spokesperson Hannah DeGoey. The cause is under investigation. We will update as more information becomes available.

As we continue to follow the rising rent prices in Northern Nevada, the U.S. Census Bureau shows that rent has risen by 19 percent within the last five years. According to this report, rent prices are passing the current inflation rate, which was 8.37 percent over the same period since 2014.

DAYTON, Nev. — Fredrik Nilehn, Lubbock, Tex., fired a final round 9-under par 63 to finish as low qualifier at 16-under 272 for the tournament and lead a group of 21 qualifiers who advance from Stage One Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying at Dayton Valley Golf Club.

Just before 2 p.m. a structure fire was called in near Michael and Mountain Street to assist on an outside agency report.

The roof is reported to have caught on fire at a structure and the reporting party believed it to be insulation that caught.

Upon arrival heavy smoke could be seen coming from the roof.

The house appears to be in the process of either removing or installing a new roof. Fire crews gained access from above with chainsaws.
