Nevada Highway Patrol reports fatal crash on Highway 50 near Dayton

The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting a fatal crash that happened at around 5 p.m. Wednesday night on Highway 50 and Occidental Drive east of Dayton. There are two vehicles involved with two confirmed driver fatalities, according to NHP.

The eastbound lane of Highway 50 is closed near Occidental because of the crash. NHP says motorists can expect lengthy travel delays near the area of the crash and that they should find alternate routes.

There were only the drivers in the vehicles that crashed, said NHP spokesperson Hannah DeGoey. The cause is under investigation. We will update as more information becomes available.

This afternoon the Carson Rifle and Pistol Club posted the following message for its membership and the shooting public regarding the end of its role assisting the city in operating the Carson City Rifle and Pistol Range:

The "use agreement" between the city and the Carson Rifle and Pistol Club will expire on October 18th and the city has declined to renew it. Consequently, the club will no longer provide Range Safety Officers or assist in operating the range as of this Friday.

CARSON CITY — September employment numbers in Nevada show jobs up by 6,000 over the month and 45,200 over the year. A 27-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday in the 900 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer, a Carson City sheriff's deputy report states.
