Insurance agent with traffic warrants tells CCSO deputy he was speeding to get to restaurant before it closed
A 25-year-old Reno man was arrested Sunday night in the area of Fairview and Roop streets for three failure to appear warrants out of Carson City, a contempt of court warrant out of Reno Township, and for suspicion of reckless driving, speeding more than 35 mph over the limit and driving with a suspended license.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed a vehicle pass him going westbound on Fairview Drive at a rate of speed, estimated to be 70 mph. The area is posted as a 35 mph zone. The officer activated his emergency lights and siren and pursued the vehicle.
As the officer made the traffic stop and exited their patrol vehicle, a deputy pulled up in their personal vehicle and stated they witnessed the driver speeding. The deputy statement was as follows: "His car blew my car off a straight course. I had to grip my steering wheel firmly and redirect my steering to stay in my travel lane." The deputy estimated the speed of the driver between 70 and 80 mph.
The driver of the vehicle, listed as an insurance agent, was interviewed. He stated he and his girlfriend, who was the front seat passenger, were in a hurry to make it to a restaurant before it closed. He stated he knew the reason for the stop and stated he was going about "50" miles per hour. He was not in possession of his driver's license upon request.
A records check showed the man's license was suspended. He also showed to have four active and confirmed warrants. Threee out of Cason Township Court and one out of Reno Township Court. All of the man's warrants appear to be related to driving offenses, as well as driving without a license. He was arrested. Total bail amount listed: $2,433.
— A 26-year-old transient was arrested Saturday, 9:31 p.m. in the area of East Nye and Airport Road for a misdemeanor department of alternative sentencing violation. The man was observed drinking a beer, and was under supervision, and was not allowed to be drinking. He provided a breath sample of .147 and was arrested for DAS violation. Bail: $3,000.
— A 40-year-old Carson City man, Korey Eugene O'Gorman, was arrested Saturday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the arrest report, an officer observed the man using drugs in a vehicle following a civil standby call at an East Nye Lane residence. The officer placed the man under arrest. On the driver's seat the officer found a piece of foil bent up and crumbed. The foil contained a black substance that was melted and had burn marks. The substance tested presumptive positive for heroin. Also located was a "tooter" straw, commonly used for inhaling narcotics. The man was arrested. Bail: $6,137.
— A 28-year-old Carson City woman turned herself in Monday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued Feb. 27, 2020 out of Carson City Justice Court.
— A 25-year-old transient, Alejandro Rios-Guerrero, was arrested early Monday for a felony contempt of court warrant after being stopped for failure to maintain a travel line in the area of Koontz Lane and Carson Street. He was held without bail in lieu of a hearing on the warrant.
— A 54-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Saturday in the area of Fairview and Highway 50 East for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area for a report of a non-injury accident.
During the investigation, the woman was cited for following too closely. While the officer was collecting statements, he spoke with the woman and believed she was under the influence of alcohol. The woman admitted that she had a few drinks earlier in the day.
There was a slight odor of alcohol on her breath. The woman consented to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She provided a breath sample of .169 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI, according to the arrest report. Bail: $1,137.
— A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday, 2:37 a.m. in the 1700 block of Brown Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI.
According to the arrest report a deputy observed a small pickup heading eastbound on College Parkway strike a curb on the right hand side of the road. The truck had passed two Carson City fire trucks at a high rate of speed as they were turning into station 52.
The deputy located the truck, heading west on Highway 50 and made a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Brown Street. The driver appeared intoxicated, slurred his words and had an odor of alcohol on his breath. He agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He provided a preliminary breath test of .158 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.
— A 66-year-old Carson City man, Bobbie Lee Tucker, was arrested Friday in the area of Long and Saliman streets for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, and three misdemeanors: being an ex-felon failing to register, no proof of insurance, and tail lamp required.
According to the arrest report, the man was stopped for having a broken driver side tail light. He could not provide proof of insurance or registration. The man stated he was an ex-felon and lives at an address he provided. However a check through dispatch showed he was registered at a Menlo Drive address. He was arrested for failing to register at his new address.
During inventory of his vehicle, officers located pills identified as schedule 4 controlled substance. He was also arrested for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance. Bail: $2,500.
