Carson City area weather: Sunny and hot through the week
Sunny, dry and hot temperatures are in the forecast for the Carson City region this week, with temperatures approaching record highs in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
A few thunderstorms are possible, likely isolated and limited mainly to Mono and Mineral counties. Typical afternoon breezes can be expected with milder overnight temperatures, forecasters said.
The relatively quiet weather pattern will continues through the week as high pressure remains over the Silver State. Daytime high temperatures are forecast near or at record levels this week, especially Tuesday and Wednesday, in the Reno area, where they could be tying the record high of 98 at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
For Carson City, Carson Valley and Lyon County areas, daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 90s this week.
Reno is expected to be warmer with highs in the upper 90s through at least Friday. Around the Lake Tahoe Basin, temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s.
Typical afternoon winds gusting to around 20-25 mph and overnight lows cooling into the low 60s in western Nevada valleys will help minimize the heat impacts, according to the weather service. There are no advisories at this time.
