Wildfire near Topaz Ranch Estates 40 percent contained, full containment by Saturday

A brush fire that erupted Wednesday afternoon in south Douglas County near Topaz Ranch Estate in the Minnehaha Canyon area has firefighters from surrounding agencies, including Carson City, responding.
According to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center, multiple brush teams have been called to the Canyon Fire, which was reported at around 1:46 p.m. The fire was said to be spreading, according to firefighters on scene.
The Carson City Fire Department was contacted by Douglas County requested backup mutual aid. Carson City has sent one brush crew and a hand crew. Helicopter crews have also been ordered.
According to a Douglas dispatcher, at this time there have not been any evacuations. It is unknown how many homes or structures are threatened. As of 2:30 p.m., the fire had burned at least 2 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch. East Fork tells KTVN the fire has grown to 5 to 10 acres.
